First Edition is first rate! After some due diligence and review of your informative website, my first contact was with Debi Gordon on the phone. She was extremely helpful and, via a number of follow-on emails, she answered my many questions. I was in! From the time I submitted my book, it took almost exactly two weeks to get the Congrats You’re Published email. And that time involved some intense interactions to meet my formatting requirements. All of the staff were great to work with and efficient, both by phone and email. This is my first book, I already have another book series in the works, and my publication route is now well-defined. Thanks to all the First Edition staff for a great publication experience.

A dream finally came true!
I am a new writer who had the bad luck to not investigate options around me when I published my book “Planet Maya.” I jump onto the first avenue and believed the false promise given to me. I had read some reviews coming from other authors who were dissatisfied with the same Publisher I had chosen. I said to myself, why not given them a chance, after all everyone deserves one. After having listening to Trafford advances and promises, I proudly submited my document…. I always keep in mind all the negative reviews I had came across left by unhappy authors. Guess what! They were one hundred percent right! I kept FIRST EDITION DESIGN’s phone number nicely in my drawer given out by another unhappy author who placed a review and who was also dissatisfied with Trafford.
Finally, after a couple years of struggles and headaches it was time for me to make the move, so I called FIRST EDITION DESIGN. It was the same happy voice and person who answered the phone. Deborah Gordon the chef executive, was once again taking time with me over the phone. She stated “Oh yes, I remember you… I told you I would create your cover book the last time for free, and I will still do that for you!” This moment was the moment of truth. I am a happy camper-author who has found his home! Thank you so much to the professional personnel, for having giving me hope again and faith in myself. After Trafford experience, I have to admit I started to be down a little on me and my book “Planet Maya!”

My first publishing deal for my novel Sideways was with St. Martin’s Press. It was a miserable experience. My second novel deal was with Knopf/Random House. Shockingly, they treated me even more appallingly. My first venture into self-publishing met with disaster. For my third novel, Sideways 3 Chile, I decided to do my research, spare no expense, and go with the best. I chose First Edition Design Publishing because they’ve been in the business of self-publishing the longest and their reviews were ecstatic. Well, let me add mine. Deborah Gordon, their editor-in-chief, treated me with professional aplomb and alacrity. I naively assumed that because I was publishing with a Web-based company that there would be little or no personal contact, as is the case with most of the others. Boy, was I wrong! Because of the numerous requests for my novel we eventually decided to do a traditional publishing contract. Deborah is no-nonsense, a great communicator, and handled everything, from the layout details to getting me into their system, personally. PR shifted over to the energetic and just as professional Ray Shasho. Another great communicator. I would never again publish with a traditional publisher after the experience I’ve had with First Edition Design. The royalty checks come frequently and unexpectedly. I couldn’t be happier.

I just received the first copies of my book Quantum Times. It looks great!!! I love the cover you guys designed. As a writer I know, sadly, that sometimes words can’t describe the totality of a feeling — so I can’t share with you how great it feels to see my novel published, in print, ready for a place of honor on a bookshelf, ready to be shared with countless readers!

I will recommend First Edition to every writer I know! I can’t rave enough about Debi Gordon — patient, quick to answer questions, efficient. All the other helpers did a great job with set-ups even though I had my own ideas. I will recommend First Edition to all my writer friends who are thinking of publishing a book.
I just got news yesterday that I am done!! Watch for “Writing My Way Around The World.”
